Which AI video generators are actually free?
Few are free in a useful way. On 29 October 2026, Google Flow and PixVerse were the only tools we read whose own pages state a daily free allowance. Runway gives a one-time grant. Kling’s own credit guide lists “No monthly Credits” on its free plan; we could not confirm whether it still gives credits for logging in. Pika, Luma and Higgsfield give no free video at all.
| Tool | What is free | The catch | Paid plans from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Flow (Veo, Gemini Omni) | 50 credits a day, every account | Free users may not get video “roughly 2 PM to 5 PM UTC”; unused credits do not roll over; 18+ | $4.99 a month for 200 extra credits (Google) |
| PixVerse | 60 credits on joining, then 30 a day | Video up to 540p; watermark-free is listed on paid plans | $8 a month, billed yearly |
| Runway | 125 credits, once | “A selection of generative creative models” | $12 a month billed yearly, $15 monthly |
| Kling | Basic plan, “$0; free forever” | “No monthly Credits”; output “is not for commercial use” | $6.99 first month, then $8.80 |
| Dreamina (Seedance) | “Start with free credits” | The page does not say how many; watermark removal is paid | Yearly plans |
| Pika | A free account | “0 · packs only”: no monthly credits; no commercial licence | $10 a month |
| Higgsfield | A free account | No credits; free use covers images and one Character generation | $15 a month |
| Luma | No free plan listed | $30 a month | |
| Wan 2.2 (open model) | Free to download, Apache 2.0 licence | You need your own powerful graphics card | Your own hardware |
How far do Google Flow’s free credits go?
It depends on the model, and on which models a free account can use. Google says: “With or without a subscription, you receive 50 Google Flow credits per day.”
What 50 credits buy depends on the model. Google’s price list per generation:
| Model in Flow | Credits per generation | Free daily credits buy |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini Omni Flash, 360p, 4 seconds | 4 | 12 clips, if open to your account |
| Gemini Omni Flash, 720p, 8 seconds | 12 | 4 clips, if open to your account |
| Veo 3.1 Lite (non-Ultra subscribers) | 10 | 5 clips, if open to your account |
| Veo 3.1 Fast (non-Ultra subscribers) | 20 | 2 clips, if open to your account |
| Veo 3.1 Quality, 8 seconds | 100 | Not enough |
Google’s two pages disagree on Omni Flash. The credits page prices it for “All users”, but the plans page mentions “access to Gemini Omni Flash” only from Google AI Plus up, and the free plan’s Flow line promises “limited access to Nano Banana Pro”. Google adds that Flow features “may vary by Google AI subscription tier, platform (web vs. mobile), and region. 18+.” Test on your own free account before you plan around it.
Other limits matter too. Some requests make two videos and charge for both, and Google says free users “may not be able to generate videos” during peak hours, roughly 2 PM to 5 PM UTC. Upscaling to 1080p is not available without a subscription.
Is Veo 3 free?
Only partly. The free Google plan does not list video in the Gemini app; Google lists “access to more features like video generation” from Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month. In Flow, Veo 3.1 Quality costs 100 credits a clip, double a free day’s allowance. Google prices the cheaper Veo 3.1 Lite and Fast for “non-Ultra subscribers” and does not say separately whether free accounts can choose them, so try them in Flow before you plan around them.
What can you use free AI video for?
Check the licence before the look. Kling’s free plan says generated content “is not for commercial use”. Pika’s free plan has “No” commercial licence, and Higgsfield’s free plan cannot be used commercially either.
Watermarks are the other catch. Kling, PixVerse and Dreamina list watermark removal as a paid benefit, and Runway lists “No watermarks” from its Standard plan. Pika’s free plan is the only one we read with no watermark, but it has no free credits.
How long do free tiers last?
Not long, sometimes. In a July 2026 thread asking for free tools, one creator wrote that Vidu “just cancelled the daily free token program”. Read a tool’s pricing page on the day, not last month’s list.
Plan for retries too. One creator estimates “5–15 generations per clip” before one is usable. At Google’s prices, 50 credits make four 8-second 720p Omni Flash generations, so at that rate a day’s free credits give 0.3 to 0.8 usable clips: often none. Twelve 4-second 360p drafts give 0.8 to 2.4.
Which free option should you start with?
- Daily practice: Google Flow’s 50 credits a day, or PixVerse’s 30 a day at up to 540p.
- Trying a professional tool once: Runway’s 125 credits.
- No limits, and you have the hardware: Wan 2.2. Its 5B model “can also run on consumer-grade graphics cards like 4090”, while the single-GPU command for its 14B model needs a GPU “with at least 80GB VRAM”.
- Work for a client: a paid plan with a commercial licence. Our AI video tool prices guide compares them.

Is Veo 3 free?
Partly. In the Gemini app, video generation is listed from Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month. In Google Flow every account gets 50 credits a day, but a Veo 3.1 Quality clip costs 100 credits. Google prices Veo 3.1 Lite at 10 credits and Fast at 20 for non-Ultra subscribers, and its page does not say separately whether free accounts can use them.
What is the best free AI video generator right now?
It depends on what you need. Google Flow refills 50 credits a day and publishes what each clip costs, though Google's pages do not agree on which models a free account can use. PixVerse also gives 30 credits a day at up to 540p; its page does not say how many clips that makes.
Can I use free AI videos commercially?
Not always. Kling's free plan says generated content "is not for commercial use", and Pika's and Higgsfield's free plans have no commercial licence. Read the terms of any free plan before you use the output for a client or an ad.
Is there a free AI video generator without a watermark?
Of the plans we read, only Pika's free plan lists no watermark, but it has no monthly credits, so you have to buy a pack. Kling, PixVerse and Dreamina list watermark removal as a paid benefit, and Runway lists "No watermarks" from its Standard plan.
How we checked this
We read each tool's own pricing or help page on 29 October 2026: Google's Flow credits help page and Google AI plans page, Runway, PixVerse, Pika, Luma and Dreamina's pricing pages, Kling's own credit guide (28 July 2026), Higgsfield's own pricing post (October 2026) and the Wan 2.2 code repository. Google's plans page and its Flow credits page disagree on which models a free account can use, and we say so where it matters. Kling's guide lists no monthly credits on the free plan; we could not confirm at Kling's own site whether it still gives credits for logging in. Hailuo's plan page would not load for us, so it is left out. Dreamina's page says it has free credits but does not say how many. The note on Vidu and on retries comes from Reddit and is one person's report each. Free tiers change without notice, so check on the day. If something has changed, tell us on WhatsApp and we will update this page.
