How long can one AI video clip be?
It depends on the model. Kling 4.0, launched on 15 October, now matches Seedance 2.5, which ByteDance launched on 31 July, at up to 30 seconds in one generation.
| Model | Longest single clip | Can it extend a clip? |
|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 in Google Flow | 8 seconds (Google) | Yes: 8-second clips, extended with Veo 3.1 Lite (Google) |
| Gemini Omni Flash in Google Flow | 10 seconds (Google) | Flow extends Veo clips only |
| Kling 3.0 | 15 seconds (Kling) | Kling lists video extension on paid plans (Kling) |
| MiniMax H3 | 15 seconds (MiniMax) | Not stated |
| Kling 4.0 Flash | 20 seconds at 720p (Kling) | Not stated |
| Luma Ray3.2 | 20 seconds at 1080p (Luma) | Not stated |
| Kling 4.0 | 30 seconds (Kling) | Two-minute extension announced, not live |
| Seedance 2.5 | 30 seconds (ByteDance) | Yes, forward or backward |
Step 1: write the shot list
Decide every shot before you spend a credit. A minute in Veo is at least eight clips; in Kling 4.0 or Seedance 2.5 it can be two long takes. One creator puts it simply: “Create a storyboard first, it helps.”
Longer clips can hold several shots. Google’s Veo 3.1 guide shows timestamped prompts that direct four shots inside one 8-second clip, and Kling 3.0’s Custom Multi-Shot “allows you to precisely control the content and duration of each shot”.
Step 2: lock the character and the look
Everything that must stay the same, such as faces, costumes and locations, should come from reference images, not from repeated adjectives. Our guide to keeping the same character across shots covers how each tool does it.
Step 3: chain each shot from the last frame
One creator: “Use last frame of your current video as the start frame of the next video.” The same post warns: “There can/will be continuity issues”, so plan for re-rolls.
In Google Flow you do not need an editor to grab the frame. Pause the clip, click Save frame, and Google says you can “Use this saved frame as an ingredient, start frame, or end frame for future generations.” Setting an end frame as well gives the shot a fixed destination, which a creator in r/VEO3 prefers to relying on Extend.
Step 4: or extend the clip
Extending continues a shot instead of cutting to a new one. In Flow, click Extend and describe how the action should continue; it works on 8-second Veo 3.1 clips, and Flow uses Veo 3.1 Lite to extend them. ByteDance’s guide shows Seedance 2.5 extending a video forward or backward. Kuaishou says Kling 4.0’s two-minute extension is coming but not live.
Step 5: assemble and fix the joins
Flow’s Scenebuilder lets you arrange clips, trim the start and end of each, preview the sequence and download it. Any video editor does the same.
Expect the joins to need work. One creator who chained clips through shared frames found that “the transition point stutters slightly” even though both clips met on the same image. The fix suggested in reply: “find two perfect match frames and cut the additional moves”.
Step 6: one soundtrack across the cuts
Generated audio changes from clip to clip, and the cuts show. Lay one music track under the whole film. Mirelo SFX 2.0, released on 14 October, generates effects and ambience “coherent across cuts” on videos up to 10 minutes. Our music and sound guide covers which tracks are safe to publish.
What does a 60-second AI film cost?
At Flow’s listed rates for non-Ultra subscribers, eight 8-second Veo 3.1 Fast clips cost 160 credits and eight Veo 3.1 Quality clips 800 (Google). Google AI Pro includes 1,000 Flow credits a month. Those sums assume every clip works first time, which they will not; the tool prices page adds retries to the maths.

How do you make AI videos longer than 8 seconds?
Either use a model that makes longer clips (Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 go to 30 seconds), extend a clip, or chain several clips by starting each one from the last frame of the previous one, then edit them together.
Which AI video model makes the longest clips?
Of the models we checked, on the makers' own figures in October 2026, Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 both generate up to 30 seconds in one go. Luma Ray3.2 and Kling 4.0 Flash reach 20, MiniMax H3 and Kling 3.0 15, and Veo 3.1 8.
How many credits does a 60-second film take in Google Flow?
Eight 8-second Veo 3.1 Fast clips cost 160 credits at Flow's listed rate for non-Ultra subscribers, or 800 with Veo 3.1 Quality, before any retries.
Can Kling 4.0 extend a video to two minutes?
Not yet. Kuaishou says the extension feature will soon support multiple extensions of up to two minutes.
How we checked this
Clip lengths and features come from each maker's own pages, read on 29 October 2026: Google Flow's help, credit and models pages, Kling's 4.0 and 3.0 user guides, credit guide and Kuaishou's release, ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 guide and its launch release (via PR Newswire), MiniMax's H3 post and Luma's Ray3.2 announcement. The credit sums use Flow's published per-clip prices and leave out retries. The workflow tips from creators come from two Reddit threads, and each is one person's experience. We have not timed or tested these workflows ourselves. If something has changed, tell us on WhatsApp and we will update this page.
