Why do AI product videos get the product wrong?
Because the model redraws the product from scratch on every run, and small text, logos and printed panels go first. A brand owner who says they spend about $5 million a year on Meta ads put it simply: “It can’t (easily) get my products right.”
One commenter in r/AI_UGC_Marketing, who also suggests a tool in the same comment, writes: “Logos, packaging text, colors, proportions, and small product details can easily drift between generations.” One commenter who works on an AI design tool names the pattern to watch for: “Products commonly hold in shot one and drift by shot four.”
The errors are easy to miss. A supplement brand that checks frames at 5x zoom caught the AI printing “300 ml” on a 500 ml product before the ad shipped.
How do you keep the product exact?
Stop asking the AI to draw it. Here is how the methods compare:
| Method | How the product gets on screen | Product accuracy | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Text to video | Generated from a description | Lowest: labels and shapes change | Mood shots without the product |
| Image to video from a packshot | Rebuilt from your photo on every run | Better, but can drift within a shot | Quick tests, simple shapes |
| Composite into one still, then animate | The model redraws the product from your placed photo | Good: one tool maker reports the label read correctly | Moving shots of the product |
| Composite into every final frame | Your real cutout laid over the generated scene | Exact: your real photo in every frame | Labels and small text that must be perfect |
The steps that hold up, from the people doing it:
- Composite the real product into the final frames. Cut it out of a clean photo once, generate only the scene, and lay the real cutout over it. The supplement brand’s rule: “the product is NEVER AI-generated”. A commenter who builds AI tools explains why it works: “the product is pixel-identical in every frame because it was never generated.”
- If the product has to move, animate from a composite, not the packshot. One tool maker reports that animating straight from a soda can photo, “the label came back as a different real flavour with garbled small print.” Animating from a still with the product already placed, “the label read correctly at full resolution for the whole shot”, though the model still redrew it: the can’s size “varied about 1% across eight seconds”.
- Move the camera, not the product. “An orbit where the product rotates instead of the camera is where the far side gets made up.”
- If you must generate it, give more. Supply “two or three angles as references”, and spell out every word printed on the product in the prompt.
- Check every frame. Look at the first and last frames at full size, where slow changes hide.
Amazon product videos: the free Video Generator
Amazon Ads has its own AI tool. Amazon says: “Video Generator is a free tool provided by Amazon Ads, allowing you to create an unlimited number of videos at no additional cost.” It sits in the Sponsored Brands campaign workflow and the Creative tools tab, and uses your product information to build the video.
Since an update in June 2025, it has been open to all US advertisers, and it returns six videos to choose from. The guide is unclear on other countries: a footnote lists the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, India and Japan, while its FAQ says it “is available in the U.S. marketplace”. Check your own marketplace. It is a quick way to get a first Sponsored Brands video. It still generates, though, so check the label and shape in every frame.
Shopify product videos: what you can upload
Shopify accepts product video files up to 10 minutes long, up to 1 GB and up to 4K (4096 x 2160 px), as MP4, MOV or WebM. You can link a YouTube or Vimeo video instead, which does not have to meet those limits.
| Where it runs | How you add it | Limits or cost |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Sponsored Brands | Video Generator in Amazon Ads, or your own file | Video Generator is free, unlimited videos |
| Shopify product page | Upload, or a YouTube or Vimeo link | 10 minutes, 1 GB, 4K; MP4, MOV, WebM |
| Meta and TikTok ads | Your own files | AI labelling rules apply (see AI ad labels) |
What does an AI product video cost?
Upwork’s hiring guide puts a typical 2 to 3 minute product demo with AI effects at $500 to $1,500. Our creators build product videos around your real product shots, from $450 for a 15 to 30 second ad or $375 each in a pack of five. For more prices, see what an AI video ad costs.

Can AI make a product video from one photo?
Yes. Amazon's Video Generator and most AI video tools can animate a product image. But the model redraws the product each time, so labels and logos can change. For ads, composite the real photo into the final frames as a layer and check every frame.
Is Amazon's AI Video Generator free?
Yes. Amazon Ads says Video Generator is free and lets you create an unlimited number of videos at no additional cost, in the Sponsored Brands campaign workflow and the Creative tools tab. Its guide gives two different answers on which countries have it, so check your marketplace.
What video files does Shopify accept for products?
Uploads up to 10 minutes long, up to 1 GB and up to 4K (4096 x 2160 px), as MP4, MOV or WebM. You can link a YouTube or Vimeo video instead, which skips those limits.
Why does my logo change in AI videos?
Because the model rebuilds the product every time it generates a shot, and small text and logos drift first. Compositing your real product photo into every final frame keeps it identical; animating from a composited still makes the model redraw it, though one tool maker reports the label then read correctly.
How we checked this
We read Amazon Ads' Video Generator guide and its June 2025 announcement, Shopify's product media help page and Upwork's price guide on 29 October 2026. The reports of products drifting, and the fixes, come from Reddit threads re-read the same day; each is one person's first-hand account, and two of the people quoted on fixes work on AI tools themselves. The method table is our summary of those reports, not a measured test. Amazon's guide contradicts itself on where Video Generator is available, and the page says so. If something has changed, tell us on WhatsApp and we will update this page.
